The Calling

Matthew 4: 18-22
"18 One day as Jesus was walking along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers—Simon, also called Peter, and Andrew—throwing a net into the water, for they fished for a living. 19 Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!” 20 And they left their nets at once and followed him. 21 A little farther up the shore he saw two other brothers, James and John, sitting in a boat with their father, Zebedee, repairing their nets. And he called them to come, too. 22 They immediately followed him, leaving the boat and their father behind."

What if the disciples said no? The story would be very different. The story would be Jesus all by Himself doing everything. That would never work. Knowing that Jesus is God and that He knew who would follow Him is a plus. But, as human beings we can always say no.

I was dating someone who was not that good for me and I knew that i should leave. Instead He let me go and then tried to get back with me. At that time I really felt God's voice saying that I needed to join e harmony in order to give Him every opportunity. Well I am engaged to the most wonderful man in the universe. But, if I did not listen to God I would not be here. I did have a choice.

The disciples could get out of their boats and follow Jesus or sit and live an ordinary life. I can not talk to any of them but, I think they are glad they got out of the boats. Their lives were extraordinary.

Lord I pray that my life is extraordinary in Christ. In know where much is given that much is required. I pray Lord that I will be up to the challenge. I pray that My life in Christ is a yes and never a no.
